Qingming 清明节: in memory of FangFang
The Qingming celebration (清明节) is an occasion for Chinese people to honour their dead. This year, Qingming took place on April 5th. It is the equivalent of All Saints’ Day, and allows families to come and visit the graves, clean them, make offerings while burning incense and “fake money”, and it is often followed by a meal.
But for Danian, it is also about honouring the memory of FangFang, founder of Couleurs de Chine, who died in a fire in her house in December 2008.
The Couleurs de Chine staff in Danian came to visit her grave to commemorate her contribution to the education of Miao and Dong minority girls in the region.
