Students’ departure festivities and rice harvests
The elementary school children are back in school! In Danian, some schoolchildren are boarders and arrive with their suitcases and bags to be ready to move into the dormitories.
In the meantime, students and their families are having a last meal to celebrate their departure to university. Chinese railways have scheduled special trains for students to reach their schools, which are often far from their homes.
But simultaneously the harvesting of hybrid rice has started in the lower rice fields: this is a very important moment where all the family workforce and the help of neighbours are precious. Of course this is accompanied by some culinary delights taken directly from the rice fields, such as snails and fish!
